Mac Poker Freerolls

USA Friendly Real Money Poker at PokerStarsI have plans to announce regularly scheduled Mac poker freerolls for our website visitors here. These freerolls will probably begin after I launch our Mac poker players forum.

What is a "Poker Freeroll"?

For those Mac poker players who aren't familiar with the term "freerolls", it means a poker tournament with no entry fee. A poker freeroll is basically a free poker tournament where you have the opportunity to win some money. Usually those amounts of real money are pretty small, but theoretically, someone could start from a bankroll of $0 and build a bankroll of $10,000 or more online by taking advantage of freerolls and then moving up to the microstakes games when they've got a sufficient bankroll.

The Chris Ferguson $10,000 Challenge

Chris Ferguson is pretty well known for taking such an approach to turning nothing into $10,000. He's written about it several times, but he uses a strict bankroll management approach to achieve this kind of success. He never plays more than 5% of his bankroll at a given table or tournament. And any time the amount of money he has in play at a poker table reaches over 10% of his bankroll, he moves to another table, to get some of his money out of play.

In brick and mortar poker, that's called ratholing, but in online poker, it's not an unusual behavior at all. This is a strategy that can't be used at some of the smaller poker sites very effectively, because they have so few options to move your play too once you double up at a table.

How Tough Is The Competition At Most Poker Freerolls?

It's been my experience that most freeroll poker players tend to be pretty soft competition, and I don't recommend that an experienced Mac poker player fool around with a lot of freerolls. An experienced player can get a lot better ROI and a lot higher hourly rate by playing in real money poker games.

My main strategy recommendation for poker freeroll players is not to bluff. Most of the play in these online poker freerolls is very loose and aggressive, so playing ABC poker works well in these tournaments. Get your hand, bet your hand. A lot of times the fields are large though, and it can be frustrating experiencing a bad beat after spending hours playing one or two hands an hour only to have nothing to show for it.

Where Are The Best Places to Play Poker Freerolls, Especially For a Mac Poker Player?

When I do start offering freerolls for Mac poker players here, they'll be taking place at Full Tilt Poker and/or PokerStars, the two main sites that I recommend for Mac poker players. Full Tilt Poker offers a $600 signup bonus for new players, and PokerStars offers a $50 signup bonus for new players too. So if you're looking for free money to play poker with, there's $650 for you at the two biggest and most Mac friendly online poker sites to be found.

You can find more information about poker freerolls in general at this website about poker freerolls. The site includes a schedule of upcoming poker freerolls at almost ever single poker room online. It also offers a variety of poker strategy tips focused exclusively on freeroll and microstakes poker tournament play.
